The Unhindu Hindus

Tehelka.com yesterday came out with a sensational expose about the truth behind the Gujarat riots of 2002, especially how elements and personalities within the so-called Hindu right, crossed any and all legal and moral lines of control, and perpetrated mass murders within the state of Gujarat.

It is not a secret that the Hindu right, at several times during last few years, has been subverted, hijacked, and even completely controlled by radical elements that don’t even have the faintest connection if any with Hinduism at large, but are purely gangs of goons and criminals out for revenge and cruelty. What the Tehelka sting operation is revealing, is that, such elements enjoyed most favorable and protected status under a state government which used government machinery and the public’s tax money to execute an agenda of mass murder.

During his interview by a news channel, Ashish Khaitan, the Tehelka reporter who went undercover for the sting operation, mentioned that the top leaders of the Bajrang Dal and the Shiv-Sena (and he had this caught on camera) confessed that the chief minister of the state of Gujarat gave them 3 full days to implement a reign of terror promising him and his mafia that the police won’t touch them. The almost surreal and shadowy confessions, several of them by the top leaders of local Hindu parties, point to a conspiracy instead of an impulsive riot scenario.

Nobody, I repeat, nobody who are involved in such unspeakable crimes, should remain in any public positions even for a minute, no matter how high those positions are. Narendra Modi can begin to prove his innocence first by resigning and then explaining to this nation why he and his cronies should be scot free after maligning the most tolerant religion on the face of the planet. The national leaders of the Hindu right need to take a long hard look at their party and come to a decision whether the worst kind of subversion of their founders’ ideology is reason enough to kick the butts of those whose deeds will put the rest of the nation to shame. BJP’s top leaders need to stop their wordsmithy, leave their self-absorbed oratory at home, and speak the truth. Because if they don’t, they stand to lose any moral ground when they speak against the criminal mafias within the other political parties. Wha tis worse, they also stand to lose any moral ground against the extremist Islamic fundamentalism which is where their main focus should be in the first place.

There is a majority of Hindus in this country that does not subscribe to the extremist agenda professed by an extremist minority. But that majority is usually silent and civil. Those Hindus who take pride in the world’s most ancient religion, need to stand up and outvoice the few bad apples who do a great disservice to the greater cause of Indianness.

    Extremist Hindus are a tiny minority, where as islamic fundamentalist are the norm. Does this website ever report on the mass genocide and conversion of Hindus and Zorastrians by Muslims all in the name of Jihad?

    Why dont these website and media talk about Godhra and killing of Kashmiri Hindus on Daya to Day basis? When an Indian can go anywhere in india and buy property and get settle there why not in Kashmir?

    You will find innumerable instances all over this blog where I speak up against islamist fundamentalism as well as muslim-vote-bank coddling by the political parties of this country. But whether perpetrated by radical fundamental islamists or by government-sponsored goons, extremism is still spelt the same. Isn’t it? I am proud to be an Indian and proud to be a Hindu. Just that the Hinduism I subscribe to is much closer to Vivekananda’s or Raja Shivaji’s version than any politician’s subversion of it.

    I’m sure that the sting operation is done the the opposition party in Gujrat for the coming election next year. All bloody a game for vote, Congress party to hated so called a secular party for such game plan.

    Neila,

    That’s a valid point and one surely cannot discount the support and encouragement of other political parties who could have pushed this sting operation at such a critcal time in the Gujarat State politics. So I don’t entirely disagree with you on that.

    But the fact still remains that the people who spoke out (in hidden camera) were speaking their version of the truth. And didn’t seem that they were coerced or forced into saying all the stuff. So no matter what the intention is behind the sting operation, the truth still must prevail and come out, no matter what.

    Whole of mankind has screwed up the world/society so much that - we hardly find any truthful people. Even if someone wants to be truthful, society does not allow them to do so…

    Whole of mankind has screwed up the world/society so much that - we hardly find any truthful people. Even if someone wants to be truthful, society does not allow them to do so…

    Truth has been always a “casualty” in our times…

    Is this price we pay for progress?? Or can we call this progress at all?

    I think people of India and Indian diaspora can do something beyond just discussing this in egroups and blogs.

    The Tehelka tapes confirm the crimes of the Gujarat RSS/BJP/VHP leadership. They should not get away with this.

    The RSS/BJP/VHP leadership is not directly tainted by this. Nor are the other parties of the NDA coalition, some of which still support them.

    So consider the possibility of thousands or millions of people sending letters, faxes (and in the worst case emails as they are often ignored)
    saying to Advani/Vajpayee/Jaitley/etc. (the BJP national leadership) that you better denounce the tainted leaders of your party in Gujarat or be ready to show your real face to rest of India.

    Yes, Mr. Modi led his party to victory in Gujarat after the 2002 incident. But one should not forget that the NDA lost after that.

    So if the rest of the country and the good Gujuratis tell Mr. Advani/Vajpayee/Jaitley/etc. in no uncertain terms that this is a second chance to them. In 2002 they wiggled out but now the Tehelka tapes show the truth and if they (Mr. Advani/Vajpayee/Jaitley/) do not want to be clubbed together with Mr. mass murderer Modi then they should immediately suspend all the tainted leaders of Gujarat from their party.

    Let us spread the word in Internet sphere (blogs, emails, yahoo groups etc. etc.). Let millions of people write and fax to Vajpayee and Advani and lets see if they come to their senses and throw these killers out of their party and coalition.

    a few hundred muslims get killed in gujarat and its the end of the world to you. however, the muslim percentage of the population of gujarat has not demographically changed. now consider the hindu population of kashmir, pakistan, and bangladesh. in these lands is where TRUE GENOCIDE has occurred. The Hindu population of pakistan is virtually nonexistant. in Kashmir the muslims have killed, forcibly converted, or driven out the Hindus from the valley. in bangladesh hindus are persecuted and killed to the extent that their percentage of the population decreased every year. However, I NEVER hear you congress party supporting pseudosecularists ever protesting about that!

    How many Hindus have to be slaughtered by muslims before you will raise any concern about them? Why don’t you protest against the muslims that killed the 59 hindu pilgrims and started the violence in gujarat?

    and if any of you want to write to the NDA then thank them for attempting to end the double standard the congress has used against hindus. why do muslims get hag subsidised and hindus don’t get their religious pilgrimages subsidised by the gov? how is that secular?

    We keep hearing about how so many muslims were killed in the Gujarat riots of 2002,
    and how the Hindu Right Wing parties had some conspircy behind the whole thing.

    What we dont hear is that a group of hindus were burnt alive on a train by Muslim gangs, and hindus retaliated.

    If the same happened Visa versa then I’m sure You would all be saying that the Hindus deserved it as they started the whole thing

    I think this all about pleasing muslims, I suggest you all think lond and hard about what will happen when muslims are a majority in India, You’ll all be saying Allah ackbar 5 times a day and cursing the day you sided with muslims instead of Hindus your BROTHERS!

    Do u know tehelka exposed only BJP candidates most of the time?
