Top 10 reasons why Shilpa is not upset with Richard Gere

April 17, 2007 posted by indiatime |

10. Shilpa knows she’s a pretty woman and she thinks Richard Gere is her prince on a white horse. Interestingly, in Buddhist tradition (are you taking notes, richard?), Gautama Buddha’s white horse is called kantaka. But in Sanskrit, the other meaning of the word kantaka is ‘a thorn’ or in bollywood lingo - ‘kantaa’. As one would say in hindi..Kantaa Lagaa…

9. Shilpa feels that since Richard is a foreigner, he should be kissing our cheeks and we should be kissing his ass.

8. Shilpa thinks that she’s found her real big brother and all he was doing was planting a brotherly kiss

7. Shilpa’s mom has recently watched ‘Pride and Prejudice’, has gotten into the Mrs. Bennet mode, and thinks that Richard Gere might be the Fitzwilliam Darcy that her daughter needs.

6. Shilpa thought that it would be a great idea to jump-start the AIDS awareness campaign by showing the preliminaries

5. Shilpa is thinking that this might be the best way to get to Hollywood and get a kiss from Sanjaya Malakar

4. Shilpa actually said ‘choom ma’ in Sanskrit (In Sanskrit, ma means don’t). Richard didn’t understand it and thought she said ‘chumma’

3. Shilpa thought Richard was just explaining the story of his yesteryear hit ‘unfaithful’.

2. Shilpa and Richard thought that Indian truckers are uneducated idiots and will think of the act as some candle-lighting ceremony

1. Shilpa thinks that after her big brother success, Richard Gere and Hollywood will be begging and asking her to do all those roles they had reserved for Aishwarya, now that Aishwarya is not available.

amazing, after all the years Gere has been trying to help raise the aids awereness in India, this is how he gets treated. Same goes with Shilpa. all they are trying to do is save peoples lives and this is how India thanks them. I’m so ashamed to be an indian right now.

    Folks,

I do appreciate your taking time to convey disagreements or criticism.

Khab20, I disagree on your first issue. I’m positive India is more than just curry and spices and cowdung. Your second quip is a matter of personal opinion, which I deeply respect. No problems with that.

Mehek, I know you feel strongly about this issue. But I disagree about the idea that India needs to thank anyone for any favors.
India as a nation doesn’t owe any gratitude to any person or human being, least of all to any movie celebrity. With the honorable exception of those who shed blood to free this country and those who lost lives to protect it from invaders.

I really just DON’T understand why everyone is making this such a huge issue. I mean honestly, WATCH INDIAN MOVIES THESE DAYS PEOPLE. There’s soft porn for you okay. Who the hell cares that Richard Gere kissed Shilpa Shetty on the cheek? I mean honestly, grow up and stop being such babies about it.

Instead of looking at the greater picture, AIDS PREVENTION, people always undermine the hard work of these celebs and focus on nitty gritty stuff. What’s more important - him kissing her on the CHEEK or coming together to prevent AIDs?

Set your priorities straight people. Grow up.

And from your comments on the previous people’s thoughts, it’s pretty apparent you’re close minded and no matter what anyone says you won’t care. But still, look at the bigger picture here, not the stuff that happens in everyday life. A kiss on the cheek really isn’t that big a deal. AIDs prevention is the bigger picture.

Come on, why would I mind if Richard Gere kisses Shilpa Shetty? Now, had he kissed Madhuri like that, then things could get serious, and then I would get really, really mad. :-)

Anon, I do care what you think. But can we not agree to disagree? And I’m really a very genteel person. Trust me, I would never ever think of doing what Richard did to Shilpa!
